Welcome to our new online fund-raiser for the Tulare County Symphony Association and the Valley Oak SPCA.

Our goal is to crown The Great Concert Canine, one lucky pooch who will be honored at the Tulare County Symphony's annual Pops in the Park concert in Tulare this fall. (We may have to call it "Pups in the Park" this year.)

You can enter a dog in this contest for a donation of $50. Or you can honor a dog by making a donation on its behalf: Each vote is a donation of $1. Because this is a fund-raiser, there is no limit to the number of votes you cast.

The voting ends on Labor Day, and the 10 top dogs will be invited to attend the concert on Sept. 19. In the end, the lucky dog with the most votes will win.

But the real winners will be two great organizations: The Tulare County Symphony and The Valley Oak SPCA. That may seem like an unlikely combination, but our organizations are both deeply committed to improving the quality of life in our county. And that should be music to everyone's ears.
